Both Revised Standard Version and Good News Bible have a paragraph break here, which we recommend.
So in this way he died: Good News Bible provides a fine model, saying “So Eleazar died.” This simple short sentence is particularly effective.
Leaving in his death an example of nobility and a memorial of courage, not only to the young but to the great body of his nation: Translators may begin a new sentence here, putting the final two phrase not only to the young and but to the great body of his nation first; for example, “But our young people and our whole nation will remember his courageous death as a glorious [or, noble] example.”
