This is an appropriate place to insert a paragraph break (so Revised Standard Version, Good News Bible).
Having been saved by God out of grave dangers we thank him greatly for taking our side against the king: Revised Standard Version (also New Revised Standard Version, Revised English Bible, New Jerusalem Bible, Traduction œcuménique de la Bible, Abel) has emended this verse, but gives the literal Greek in its footnote. However, Revised Standard Version is simply guessing; there is no manuscript evidence to support the change. Good News Bible, Goldstein, and New English Bible translate the text as it stands, which we recommend. Rebelling against a king is serious business, yet the Jews did it to Antiochus~IV and survived. It is only proper that they thank God. What God did is told in the next verse.
