Translation commentary on 2 Kings 8:17

The writer furnishes the usual material about the age of the king when he began to rule and the length of his reign, but in this case there is no information about the king’s mother. The reign of Jehoram lasted eight years. Some scholars place his reign between the years 848 and 841 B.C. Others place it between 847 and 840 or between 850 and 843.

The text makes it clear that Jerusalem was the capital of Judah during the reign of Jehoram.
