The repetition of the captain of the guard may be considered unnecessarily redundant in some languages and may therefore be left implicit since the information is given previously on several occasions (verses 10-12, 15, 18).
Took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon: The two verbs, took and brought, are translated with a single verb in Good News Translation and Revised English Bible. But the verb took focuses more on their capture, while the verb brought has to do with causing the captives to appear before the king. New American Bible provides a possible model: “arrested these and brought them to the king of Babylon.” The pronoun them refers to the people mentioned in the previous verse.
