So: Although the Hebrew has nothing more than the common conjunction here, the context requires a transition word showing that the action described in this verse took place as a direct result of the order issued by the king in the previous verse.
One of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria: In this case Good News Translation (also Nova Tradução na Linguagem de Hoje) makes it clear that the priest who returned to Samaria was not only a person who had lived there previously but also was an Israelite. While the original readers would have known that this priest was an Israelite, modern readers may need to be reminded of this fact.

Taught them how they should fear the LORD: As in verse 25, the verb fear refers to an attitude of respect and reverence for Yahweh. It should be so translated here also.
