If now that city is given to a man for an inheritance, how will the heir receive his inheritance unless he passes through the danger set before him?: This is another rhetorical question. Good News Bible renders it as a statement, which other languages may find helpful. If now that city is given to a man for an inheritance may be rendered simply “Suppose that someone inherits the city.” The man (person) here represents Israel. The heir refers to the man, so how will the heir receive his inheritance may be translated “how can he [or, that man] claim his inheritance.” The danger set before him represents this world, this age. Here is a model for this verse:

• Suppose that someone inherits the city. How can he claim his inheritance unless he walks along this dangerous path?
