Translation commentary on 2 Esdras 12:47

For the Most High has you in remembrance, and the Mighty One has not forgotten you in your struggle: These two clauses mean substantially the same thing, once again positive (has you in remembrance) and negative (has not forgotten you). Here Ezra acts as a prophet in assuring the people that God is on their side. The conjunction for introduces the grounds for the exhortations in the previous verse. Good News Bible leaves this conjunction implied. For the Most High, see 2 Esd 3.3; for the Mighty One, see 2 Esd 6.31-32. Good News Bible has a good model for this verse. We especially like its shift to the future tense in the first clause.
