For he will remember all the wrongs which we did to him and to his brothers and his nation: As in the previous verse, it should be clear that this verse also explains why Demetrius wrote the letter to Jonathan. It is not the letter itself. The logical connector for may be left implied here also (so Good News Bible). An alternative model for this verse is:
• He also thought, “Jonathan will certainly remember all the wrongs [or, terrible things] I did to him, his brothers, and his nation [or, the Jewish nation].”
Contemporary English Version combines verses 4-5 in a helpful way as follows:
• He was thinking, “Jonathan could not have forgotten the terrible things I did to him and his brothers and his nation. If I don’t hurry and make peace with him, he will join forces with Alexander and attack.”
