The words in the inner sanctuary of the house (see 1 Kgs 6.5, 16) are in apposition to to its place. And the words in the most holy place (see 1 Kgs 6.16) are in apposition to in the inner sanctuary of the house. Here, of course, the house refers to “the Temple.” The most holy place is a reference to what is traditionally called “the holy of holies” (New American Bible).
