Translation commentary on 1 Kings 22:45

Once again the common formula is used to summarize and evaluate the reign of this king. Regarding the translation of this rhetorical question, see the comments on 1 Kgs 11.41. For his might that he showed, see 1 Kgs 15.23 and 16.5, 27. Regarding the translation of the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah, see the comments on 1 Kgs 14.19, 29. Parole de Vie turns the rhetorical question into a statement and restructures the information in this verse as follows: “The other acts of Jehoshaphat are written in ‘The History of the kings of Judah.’ This book recounts the exploits that he undertook, the wars that he made” (similarly Bible en français courant).

The highlights of Jehoshaphat’s reign are related to his courage and the way he fought. But the following verse mentions another element.
