These words of the prophet are fulfilled in verse 18.

All Israel refers, of course, to “all the people of the northern kingdom of Israel” (see 1 Kgs 12.1).

In certain languages the verb mourn is translated “cry” or “lament” (see the comments on 1 Kgs 13.29).

He only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave: A literal translation here may seem to suggest that only Jeroboam’s son will die. Good News Translation expresses the intended meaning more clearly by saying “He will be the only member of Jeroboam’s family who will be properly buried.”

In him there is found something pleasing to the LORD …: The text does not indicate what Jeroboam’s son had done that was pleasing to the LORD. So the translation will have to be rather general in nature. New Jewish Publication Society’s Tanakh says “in him alone … has some devotion been found to the LORD….” Others may wish to say something like “He is the only person in all the family of Jeroboam who has done anything to make the LORD happy.”
