And when the enemies of the tribe of Judah and Benjamin heard it: It may help readers to be told that the enemies were people who lived in the area of Judah by saying “the enemies in that area.” The Greek uses the singular word tribe to refer to both Judah and Benjamin, but Good News Bible correctly uses the plural word “tribes.”

They came to find out what the sound of the trumpets meant: See verses 62 and 64.

Here is a possible model for this verse:

• The [Jewish] tribes of Judah and Benjamin had enemies in the area. So when these people heard the trumpets, they came to Jerusalem to find out what was happening.
