The third wrote, “Women are strongest, but the truth is victor over all things”: See the comments on verse 10. We prefer to render the Greek word for truth (alētheia) as “reliability” in this context (see the introductory comments on 1 Esd 4.34-40). Good News Bible provides a helpful model for this verse also. Another possible model is:

• And the third man wrote, “Women are the strongest, but reliability can conquer anything.”
