16:24
[The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.]: There is a textual issue here. 16:24 was added in some of the later Greek manuscripts. It is similar to 16:20b. It is good to include this verse only as a footnote, as many English versions do. Here is an example footnote:
Only some of the later Greek manuscripts include 16:24, which reads: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
If the major language version in your area includes this verse in the text, you may want to include it in brackets. The New American Standard Bible does that. The Display also does that.
If you put 16:24 in a footnote, here are several ways to number the verses:
• Put the number 24 after the number 23. Put the footnote marker after the last sentence. For example:
23-24 Gaius, who is host to me and to the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the city treasurer, and our brother Quartus, greet you.*
• Put in the number 24 after the last sentence of 16:23, and put the footnote marker after the number. For example:
23 Gaius, who is host to me and to the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the city treasurer, and our brother Quartus, greet you. 24 *
• Do not include the number 24. Put the footnote marker after the last sentence. For example:
23 Gaius, who is host to me and to the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the city treasurer, and our brother Quartus, greet you.*
