the voice that I had heard from heaven: This phrase refers to the voice in 10:4b. Translate it similarly to there. For example:

speech coming from heaven that I had heard ⌊earlier⌋

I heard ⌊that same⌋ ⌊person/someone⌋ from heaven say

10:8b–c

lies open: This phrase indicates that the scroll was still partly unrolled, so that someone could read it. For example:
