3:32
Sala: There is a textual issue here:
(1) Many Greek manuscripts have Salmon.
(New International Version, Good News Translation, God’s Word, Contemporary English Version, New Living Translation (2004), New American Standard Bible, New Century Version, King James Version, Phillips’ New Testament in Modern English)
(2) Some early Greek manuscripts have Sala.
(Berean Standard Bible, Revised Standard Version, New Jerusalem Bible, NET Bible, English Standard Version)
It is recommended that you follow option (1). This is the same form of the name Salmon that is used in the Hebrew text of the Old Testament. See Ruth 4:21. You may want to include the other option in a footnote. For example:
Some early Greek manuscripts have “Sala.”
