7:3a Sorrow is better than laughter,

There is more benefit to being troubled than to being happy.

To be sad is better for you than to laugh all the time.

7:3b for a sad countenance is good for the heart.

It is⌋ because sadness has a good effect on life.

We learn more about ourselves when we are sad. (EASY2015)

Sadness has a good effect on life. Therefore, there is more benefit to being troubled than to being happy.
