10:13a The beginning of his talk is folly,

Fools begin by saying foolish things, (FBV)

When a fool starts to speak, he says silly things. (EEB)

10:13b and the end of his speech is evil madness.

and end up saying stupid things that hurt people.

When he finishes, he is saying crazy things that are wicked. (EEB)

10:13a-b (combined)

From beginning to the end a fool talks nonsense and hurts people.

At first what they say is foolish. In the end their words are very evil. (New International Reader’s Version)
