Section 11:1-4

King Rehoboam listened to the prophecy of Shemaiah

11:1a When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem,

When Rehoboam reached Jerusalem,
-or-
King Rehoboam returned to Jerusalem Town.

11:1b he mobilized the house of Judah and Benjamin—180,000 chosen warriors—

he gathered together ⌊the armies of⌋ Judah and Benjamin. There were a hundred and eighty thousand of the best soldiers

Then he called together a hundred and eighty thousand (180,000) skilled soldiers from the Judah and Benjamin clans

11:1c to fight against Israel

who went to fight against Israel
-or-
to attack ⌊the northern kingdom of⌋ Israel.

11:1d and restore the kingdom to Rehoboam.

so that Rehoboam could gain control over the whole kingdom.

He wanted to win back the kingdom for himself.
