perish

The Greek that is often translated as “perish” in English is translated in Latvian in this particular verse as pazust: “get lost” or “disappear.” (Source: Katie Roth)

In Norwegian, the 2011 and earlier editions of the Norwegian Bible Society use the phrase gå fortapt or “be damned” / “get lost” both of which carry a highly specialized Christian meaning. The 2024 edition will replace that term with gå til grunne or “perish.” (See this article and also this one for some opposition to this choice.)
