The Hebrew that is translated as “I am who I am” or in various other ways is translated in Lisu as ꓥW., Jꓵ: ꓥW., MU., — ngaw dzhy ngaw mu, verbatim translated as “I — govern — I — make.” (Or: “I will do as please” or “My control my decision.”) This construction follows a traditional four-couplet construct in oral Lisu poetry that is usually in the form ABAC or ABCB.
