Then: The Greek phrase that the Berean Standard Bible translates as Then includes a word that is used for emphasis. The phrase could also be translated as “Surely then.” Jesus’ response is a necessary conclusion to Peter’s answer. If you can, find a way to put emphasis on this conclusion. For example:

Jesus’ answer indicates that Peter answered correctly. In some languages, it may be necessary to make that explicit. For example:

the sons: The phrase the sons refers to the same people as in 17:25d. You should translate it in the same way. For example:

the family members (God’s Word)

are exempt: The Greek word that the Berean Standard Bible translates as are exempt means “are free.” The sons of the king do not pay any sort of taxes.
