7:8a The end of a matter is better than the beginning,

A ⌊good⌋ end it is more important than a ⌊good⌋ start.

It is good to start ⌊something⌋ but it is very good to finish ⌊what you started⌋ .

If you finish some work, that is better than to start something new. (EEB)

7:8b and a patient spirit is better than a proud one.

There is more benefit to being a patient person than to being a proud person.

It is good to be a patient person and bad to be a proud person.
