1:14a I have seen all the things that are done under the sun,

I have watched everything going on in this world.

1:14b and have found them all to be futile, a pursuit of the wind.

Look! All those activities are pointless ⌊like⌋ trying to catch the wind.

Everything is as useless as trying to control where the wind blows.
