mounted up to heaven

In Gbaya, the notion of being mounted up to heaven, i.e. tossed up high by the storm (as if the ship weighs nothing) is emphasized in Psalm 107:26 with kpaŋkuleŋ, an ideophone that describes something very light that the wind moves or tosses around.

Ideophones are a class of sound symbolic words expressing human sensation that are used as literary devices in many African languages. (Source: Philip Noss)
