Good News Translation has rendered for the second time by “Once more.” Translators should use a natural expression.

There are minor differences between the prayers of verses 39 and 42, though here there is no essential shift in meaning: (1) unless I drink it is added in verse 42; (2) “nevertheless, not as I will” of verse 39 is omitted in verse 42; and (3) “but as thou wilt” (verse 39) is worded slightly differently from thy will be done (verse 42). In Die Bibel im heutigen Deutsch the petition is restructured to say “My Father, if there is no other way, and I must drink this cup of suffering, then what you want must be done.” INCL does away with the imagery of the cup: “Father, if I must experience this suffering….”
