So they all blessed the ways of the Lord, the righteous Judge, who reveals the things that are hidden: Blessed means “praised” (Good News Bible) in this context (see the comments on 1Macc 4.30). The ways of the Lord, the righteous Judge is literally “the things of the right-judging Lord.” Who reveals the things that are hidden may be rendered “who makes all secrets known” (similarly Contemporary English Version). Alternative models for this verse are:
• So they all praised the Lord, because he always judges fairly, and he reveals things that are hidden.
• So they all praised the judgment the Lord had passed [or, the way the Lord had judged], because he is always fair, and he makes all secrets known.
