Translation commentary on 1 Maccabees 11:29

The king consented, and wrote a letter to Jonathan about all these things; its contents were as follows: Apparently agreement on the terms was reached at the conference in Ptolemais. The author does not tell us if this letter was written there, so that Jonathan could take it home with him, or whether it would reach Jonathan later. It is natural to assume the former understanding.
