Notice that Good News Translation reverses the lines in this verse also.

Like the shining lamp on the holy lampstand: The holy lampstand refers to “the sacred lampstand in the Temple” (Good News Translation). See Exo 25.31-39; 1 Macc 1.21; 4.49-50. For holy see the comments on 24.10. Good News Translation focuses on “the light” from the shining lamp rather than on the lampstand itself. Many cultures will not have a specific word for lampstand. Possible alternatives are “lamp holder” and even “thing on which oil lamps are placed.”

So is a beautiful face on a stately figure: It is possible to interpret the Greek phrase translated a stately figure as “the settled prime of life” (New English Bible); this is Good News Translation‘s alternate translation in the footnote, which reads “as she grows older is.” While this is an attractive thought, the Hebrew seems to indicate that the reference here is to the woman’s figure, rather than her age. Stately is a peculiar word to describe a woman’s figure, but the figure is described as being solid and substantial. Good News Translation says “attractive figure” and allows the reader to supply his own idea of what an attractive figure is. New Jerusalem Bible translates “a well-proportioned body,” which is a good approach. Notice that Good News Translation speaks of her “face and … figure” rather than her face on a … figure. This is much more natural English, but translators need to find the proper way of saying this in their own languages.
