Translation commentary on Daniel 3:7

The horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe: see verse 5. But note that the “bagpipe” of verse 5 is not included in this list in some versions (New International Version, New Jerusalem Bible, and New Revised Standard Version) and is not recommended by Critique textuelle de l’Ancien Testament (Critique Textuelle de l’Ancien Testament). It is, however, found in a few Aramaic manuscripts, so there is some justification for including it here. Good News Translation summarizes the list with “the sound of the instruments,” and this translation makes the difference between manuscripts irrelevant.

Peoples, nations, and languages: see verse 4.

Fell down: see verse 5.
