Translation commentary on Isaiah 14:28

In the year that King Ahaz died came this oracle: See the introductory comments on this section [14.28-32]. For Ahaz see 1.1 and chapter 7. For oracle see the introductory comments on 13.1—23.18.

From verse 30 it is clear that the LORD is speaking in verses 29-31. Revised Standard Version indicates this by using double quote marks around these verses. Some languages may need to clarify the speaker by rendering this whole verse as follows:

• In the year that King Ahaz died, the LORD spoke a word. He said, ….
