Translation commentary on Deuteronomy 14:29

For other statements about providing for the needs of the poor and needy in Israel, see 16.11; 24.19-21; 26.12-15.

The Levite … has no portion or inheritance with you: as in verse 27 and 12.12.

The sojourner: these are the foreigners who lived permanently in Israel (see 1.16; 5.14; 10.18-19).

The fatherless, and the widow: see 10.18.

The LORD your God may bless you: this is the reward for compassion and generosity. On bless see also 2.7.

All the work of your hands that you do: a rather wordy way of saying “everything you do.”
