Translation commentary on Leviticus 27:31

Redeem any of his tithe: since the tithe is thought of in terms of money in many cultures today, it may be better to make this more explicit, with something like “If a person wants to buy back any of the grain or fruit he has given to the LORD….”

Add a fifth to it: that is, twenty percent more than the usual price. See verse 13 and 5.16.
