By these means: that is, by paying for his own freedom or by being redeemed by a relative. One may also translate “in any of these ways” or “by any means.”

Be released: this passive may be translated actively as “his master must release him….”

In the year of the jubilee: that is, the next Year of Restoration that will take place. See verse 10.

And his children with him: see verse 41.
