The breast: New Jerusalem Bible translates “the forequarter,” and this may be a good model for some languages where breast implies only the mammary gland. The idea is rather “chest” or “brisket.” Although this part is normally reserved for Aaron and his sons (see 7.30-34), it is here given to Moses, since he was in charge of the ceremony.

Waved it for a wave offering: that is, “presented it as a special gift” (Good News Translation). See verse 27 and 7.30.
