Translation commentary on Leviticus 8:18

On verses 18-21, see Exodus 29.15-18.

He: it will be better in many languages to supply the noun “Moses” as in Good News Translation.

The ram: although the word used here is different, it refers to the same kind of animal as in 1.10-13. The word ram is another way of saying a male sheep. Compare also 8.2. This, of course, is the first of two rams, the second being mentioned in verse 22 below.

The burnt offering: see chapter 1.

Laid their hands: see 1.4 and 4.15.

On the head of the ram: compare verse 14.
