The second letter to the Thessalonians was written by the Apostle Paul (1:1). He wrote this letter shortly after 1 Thessalonians, around 51 years after the birth of Christ. Paul was still in Corinth when he wrote this letter to the church in Thessalonica, a church which he had founded on his second missionary journey (Acts 17:1–9). It says in the book of Acts that the church was made up of some Jews and many Greeks.
The Thessalonian church must have been concerned with the end times and the second coming of Christ, because Paul wrote a lot about it in both of his letters to the Thessalonians. Nearly half of 2 Thessalonians is about end times. Paul also warned against idleness. Every person should work for their food (3:6–10).

1. Paul starts the letter by introducing himself and his companions in 1:1-2.
2. Then he thanks God for the church in Thessalonica and prays for them (1:3-12).
3. In chapter 2, Paul speaks about end times.
4. Then he speaks against idleness and the need to work (3:1-15).
5. Paul finishes by greeting the church again (3:16-18).
La deuxième lettre aux Thessaloniciens a été écrite par l’apôtre Paul (1:1). Il a écrit cette lettre peu de temps après 1 Thessaloniciens, environ 51 années après la naissance de Christ. Paul était encore à Corinthe lorsqu’il a écrit cette lettre à l’église de Thessalonique, une église qu’il avait fondée lors de son deuxième voyage missionnaire (Actes 17 :1-10). Il est relaté dans le livre des Actes que l’église était composée de quelques Juifs et d’un grand nombre de Grecs.
L’église de Thessalonique semble avoir été préoccupée par les temps de la fin et par la seconde venue de Christ parce que Paul avait beaucoup écrit à ce sujet dans ses lettres aux Thessaloniciens.
