The Greek that is translated as “famished” or similar in English is translated in the Kölsch translation (publ. 2017) as singe Mage hät geknottert wie ne Hungk or “his stomach growled like a dog.” (Source: Jost Zetzsche)

In the German New Testament translation by Berger / Nord (publ. 1999) it is translated with Hunger überfiel ihn or “Hunger overtook (lit.: “attacked”) him.”
