Joahaz receives a negative evaluation in words similar to those used in the assessment of Solomon (1 Kgs 11.6), Nadab (1 Kgs 15.26), Joram (2 Kgs 3.2), and numerous other rulers.

The Hebrew word translated fathers means “ancestors” in this context (so Good News Translation).
